Eugene Young entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 68. Born in Smithdale, Mississippi, on July 27, 1957. Eugene spent most of his life in New Orleans, Louisiana, though he also lived in other states throughout his lifetime.
He will be fondly remembered for his infectious laughter, calm demeanor, and bold, outlandish sense of style.
Eugene was the beloved son of Albertine Young and the late Willie McCray. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Reshebi Bryant Martin; father, Willie McCray, maternal grandparents, Eugene Young and Mattie Lee Young, and Special Uncle, Melvin Young Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His son, Eugene Causey (LaTanya), Grandchildren: Taizjion Martin, Jaren Miller, Trezon Martin, Jayden Miller, Tyvan Martin, and Eden Causey. Great-grandchildren: Heaven Smith and Drayden Martin.
He is also survived by: Siblings: Charles Ray Daniels (Alice) of Smithdale, MS; Cynthia M. Mitchell (Walter) of Slidell, LA; Tony McCray (Vivian) of McComb, MS; and Bethon McCray of McComb, MS. Nephews: Johnny Wilson, Charles Lamond Wilson, Raymond Daniels, Christopher James Daniels, and Special Nephew, Jordan Andre Mitchell. A Special Aunt: Mattie Y. Butler and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
