Evelyn Ennis O'Brien (Ebbie) 100 years old of Louisville, KY passed away Wednesday December 4th, 2024, at Eastern Star Home in Louisville. She was born in Franklin, KY August 27th, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents Troy Estelle Ennis and Sarah Madeline Hammonds Ennis. Her loving husband Malcolm Russell "Obie" O'Brien of 42 years, brother Donald Jackson Ennis and son-in-law Charles Eugene "Chuck" Dutton. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Dutton, grandson William Troy Ford, Christopher Dutton and Sehirbie Rouse. Granddaughter Tina Ankeny (Doug). Four great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Her best friend and sister-in-law Grey Ennis, niece Allison Ennis and nephew Anthony Ennis (Kim). Two great nephews and one great niece. She was proud to be raised in the Louisville area of Portland. Evelyn was a retired nurse, life member and Elder of Shawnee Christian Church, Life member of Shively Area Ministries, Life member of Brilliant Star Chapter # 153 OES. She volunteered many years with Easter seals, 8-year volunteer of former Mayor Jerry Abramson, and a Kentucky Colonel. The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses and nurse's aides of the Eastern Star Home who were wonderful with her and our family. We are forever grateful for your compassion and excellent care. There will be a memorial service Saturday December 21st, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Shawnee Christian Church, 1520 Gagel Avenue Louisville, KY 40216. Evelyn has chosen cremation to be handled by Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway Louisville KY 40216 with graveside services at a later date in Resthaven Cemetery.
