Evelyn Marie Simmons

Evelyn Marie Simmons, 64, of Godefroy, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Bon Secours Community Hospital. Born on April 2, 1961, in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold Horton and Gail Gregory Horton. Evelyn was a devoted wife to the late Paul Simmons, Jr., with whom she shared many loving years of marriage. She worked for several years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY, where she cared deeply for her patients and brought comfort and kindness to those around her. In a tribute from her daughter: "She wasn't just my mother, she was my best friend, my world, and my greatest support. Her love ran deep, and she was a friend and family member to so many. While I'm heartbroken, I take comfort knowing she's now reunited with her grandparents, mother, husband, my dad, her sisters, and even her beloved kitty Miss Emily. She's finally free from pain, which she fought through every single day. Please send her love and prayers, I know she'll be watching over us always." Evelyn is survived by her loving daughter, Anna Soto, and her cherished fur babies: Syren, George Huckleberry, Bella, Castiel "Mow Mow," and Mr. Crowley, as well as many devoted nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters: Mary Biccum, Maria Baratta, Cheryl LaRue, and Donna Moller. True to who she was, she didn't want a service or sadness, she wanted joy, memories, and a celebration of her life. So instead, I will be holding a gathering in her honor.
Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium Milford, PA.
Funeral arrangements are by the GRAY-PARKER FUNERAL HOME, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis.
