After a life well lived, Evelyn Lucille (Houston) Whims, 94, born December 22, 1930, in Elyria, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by the ones she loved. Preceded in death by her devoted husband of 63 years, William Whims, and Infant son, Edward, were reunited on August 26, 2025.
Evelyn was the daughter of Alonzo and Nellie (Moser) Houston. She was predeceased by her siblings (William, Burton, Lawrence, Juanita Houston, Georgia Hall, and Erleene Houston)
With their mother when she passed were her surviving children: Katherine Farrar (Jerry), Donald Whims (Ruth), Martin Whims (Julia), Diane Stewart (Jeffery), and David Whims (Sharon). Evelyn was a beloved grandmother to fifteen grandchildren and the cherished great-grandmother of sixteen great-grandchildren.
Evelyn loved adventure and, alongside her husband, traveled across the United States living in Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, California, Arizona, and Illinois. Always moving, never stopping, in retirement Evelyn and Bill toured the US in their motorhome and traded one home for another in Arizona before returning to Ohio. Her happiest moments and greatest joy, however, were always found in the company of family, who will carry her memory forever.
Evelyn touched countless lives, she will be mourned and remembered.
