Terry J. Whims

Terry J. Whims, 84, of Rittman, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, at his residence, after a brief illness.
Born on July 1, 1939, in Wadsworth, Ohio, Terry was the son of the late Lloyd and Sophia (Gwosden) Whims. On June 26, 1962, he married Mary Jo Nester in Indiana, with whom he shared a loving partnership until her passing on June 9, 2020.
Terry was a proud graduate of Rittman High School, Class of 1958. Throughout his career, he worked diligently, contributing his skills to various companies, including the Former Packaging Corporation of America, Seville Bronze, and AK Steel, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring in 2003.
In his leisure time, Terry found joy in several pursuits, including golfing and passionately supporting his grandchildren's sporting events. He was also known for his unwavering dedication as an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Mat (Jeri) Whims of Mansfield and Michael (Tammy) Whims of Sterling; three grandchildren, Logan (Brittany) Whims, Griffin Whims, and Shannon (Sean) Whims; great-grandchildren, Brady, Gage, and Rori Jo Whims; as well as his brother, Jerry (Judy) Whims.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary Jo; brothers, Larry "Tiny" Whims and Virgil Whims; and an infant son, Terry Whims.
Private family services will be held at a later date to honor Terry's life and legacy. His final resting place will be at Rittman Cemetery.
Terry will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family and community. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
