Richard W. Ward, age 79, of Rittman, formerly of Medina, died peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Autumnwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rittman, following a period of declining health.

He was born on March 13, 1946, in Medina, Ohio, to the late Richard and Wilma (Boswell) Ward and lived most of his life in Medina and Rittman.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was very active at Autumnwood and was instrumental in organizing a veterans support group where he would welcome new resident veterans.

The family wishes to thank Autumnwood and Grace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Richard.

Surviving are brothers, Thomas (Amber) Ward and Nelson (Doris) Ward; sisters, Sandy (Bill) Horner and Barb Ward; daughter, Sharon Ward; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Ward.

Graveside services will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
