Everett Lyle Clason, 81, of Bonner Springs, KS, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his home.

He was born in Newton, KS, on May 14, 1944, to Arlie and Louise Clason. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Aryl; wife Pongsri; and son Mathew.

He is survived by his sister, Louanne and husband Ken Miller of Bonner Sprints, KS, two grandchildren, Nickoles and Lauryn; and a great-grandchild, Aubrey, of Las Vegas, NV. In addition, he leaves a daughter-in-law, Kathy Clason, his sister-in-law, Karen Clason, nieces and nephews Barry, Angie, Cooper, and Carson Newkirk of Shawnee, Kevin, Nealy, Tanner, Ryann, and Nick Newkirk of Lawrence, KS, Pat, Jan, Jenny, and Katie Guevel of Olathe, KS, and John and Janet Clason of Olathe.

He eventually moved to his childhood home in Burlington, KS, with his parents when he was 6 months old. He grew up on their farm five miles west of town. His favorite pastime growing up was fishing with his grandmother, Viva. He moved to town when was 13 where he enjoyed playing sandlot baseball across the street from their family home on Niagara Street.

He graduated from Burlington High School in 1962 where he found he had a knack for mathematics. He took that skill with him to earn a Bachelor of the Arts degree at Emporia State University in 1966.

He then joined the U.S Air Force in 1967 and became a fighter pilot with the "Wild Weasels" squadron flying during the Viet Nam war. Everett was awarded the Decorated Distinguished Flying Cross and several other medals. After the war he escorted the Prince of Saudi Arabia around the world in procuring military equipment.

After retirement from the Air Force he went to work as a subcontractor at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas until 1987 until retirement from there. He then moved to Bonner Springs, KS, in 2016, to live with his sister and brother-in-law, Louanne and Ken.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, KS. Inurnment will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may made to your local animal shelter or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
