Everett Jones Obituary

Everett Ray Jones passed away at his home in Neosho, Missouri, on November 17, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born in Stella, Missouri on July 3, 1934, to Ed and Flossie Annette Jones. He attended Joplin High School, then proudly served his country from 1951-1955 in the United States Navy. After his time in the Armed Forces, he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College for 2 years. Everett married the love of his life, Doris Pauline Farmer, on December 26, 1954, in Reno, Nevada.

Everett worked at Bosse Liquor Sales in Joplin, Missouri, Atlas Powder Company, also of Joplin, became a custom builder, specializing in custom homes, was a heavy equipment operator that bought a bulldozer and dug ponds, developed 120 acres on Carver Road in Neosho, and became a farmer, raising cattle and later, turkeys for Butterball.

Everett was the kind man you'd see on the bench at Wal-Mart who would strike up a conversation with you. He was a social man who knew a little about everything, and excellent conversationalist, as he would give a little life advice in every conversation, and it was always good advice. He had a tender heart and would help anyone in need. He was a leader, inspiring his grandsons and great grandsons to follow in his footsteps and serve in the Armed Forces. He passed down his strong work ethic to all his children and grandchildren, a legacy he was proud of. He was a wonderful storyteller, often recalling stories from his time in the service and those that he served with. He enjoyed working on his farm and raising a vegetable garden. The truest testament to his character may be that he spent the last several years of his life being the primary caretaker for his beloved wife of seventy years. When Doris's sight began to fail, Everett stayed with her. When her sight completely failed her, his kind heart and loving nature were evident to all those who witnessed the care Doris received.

Everett is survived by Eddie Jones and wife, Renee of Neosho, Missouri, Cathy Trewyn and husband, Tom, of Grove, Oklahoma, Lisa Youngblood and husband, Bruce, of Diamond, Missouri; grandchildren Steve (Kate) Dawley, Rollin and Matthew Trewyn, Ryan Jones, Jessi (Andy) Whitehead, Jake (Nicole) Youngblood, Audra George, Harrison (Lisa) George, Rusty (Jessica) Stramel, Emily (Larry) Swinehart, and Robby Harris, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Carol Harris, and a sister Norma Dockery.

A Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2:00-3:00pm. A Private Family Graveside will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Freeman Heart Institute of Joplin, Missouri c/o Clark Funeral Home P.O. Box 66 Neosho, Missouri 64850.
