Everett Hugh Ragland, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 8, 1927, to the late Rachel Stratton and Everett Randolph Ragland in Richmond, VA.
Hugh graduated from Richmond Public School in 1945 and attended the University of Richmond where he majored in Bible Studies. Upon graduation, he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned his divinity degree.
Hugh was preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Hope Pierce and his second wife, Ann Wall Ragland.
Hugh spent many years in the ministry including two summers working at Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina, five years as chaplain at the Virginia State Penitentiary as well as several counseling positions.
He is survived by his three children, Jenni Stewart of Marlington, WV, Beth Dalton (Bill) of Richmond, VA, and Kelly Ragland (Diane) of Bumpass, VA; his stepchildren, Floyd, Robin and Sandy; and six grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocohontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. Following this, please also join the family for finger foods at Patsy's Restaurant, Providence Forge, VA. A graveside service will take place later that day at 1 p.m. in Laurel Hill Methodist Church Cemetery, 1919 New Market Road, Henrico, VA 23231.
Rest in peace, Daddy, your work on Earth is done.

I am deeply saddened to hear of "Pawpaw Ragland“s" passing. Though many years have passed since I last saw him, he has always been a part of my story and my heart!
