Everett Eugene Wyatt, known fondly to friends and family as Gene, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on September 4, 1954, in Hamilton, Ohio, Gene's warmth and generosity of spirit touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a beacon of faith, compassion, and mirth throughout his 70 years.

Gene graduated with pride from Corbin High School before furthering his education at the University of the Cumberlands. His commitment to serving others led him to a career in healthcare, where he worked tirelessly as an Emergency Room Nurse at Veterans Affairs Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. It was a profession that allowed him to channel his innate care and concern for the well-being of those around him into meaningful daily service. His dedication to both his career and his community earned him the respected title of a Kentucky Colonel.

A man of strong Christian faith, Gene was an active and beloved member of Saint Michael the Archangel Episcopal Church. For 15 years, he attended a Saturday Morning Men's Bible Study, where his insightful perspectives and unwavering support fostered a close-knit spiritual fellowship.

Gene enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of the great outdoors. An avid fly fisherman, he cherished the serene waterways which provided a tranquil backdrop for reflection and recreation. His love for the University of Kentucky Sports was infectious, enthusiastically following both the basketball and football teams through their triumphs and trials. He was also a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan.

Gene was also a gardener of note, particularly fond of nurturing Kentucky's native plants, which he integrated into his verdant oasis. His love for reading was surpassed only by his enjoyment of "piddling"-a term used for his amiable tinkering and varied pursuits. Above all, a good cup of coffee and conversation were his staple, an invitation he extended with a welcoming smile to friends old and new.

Left to cherish Gene's memory is his beloved wife, Cindy Wyatt; children, Matthew Wyatt (Joni), Erica Worland (Pat), Hannah Boersma (Aaron), and Jessica Hale; grandchildren, Elaina Wyatt, Ejay Wyatt, Farrah Worland, Watson Worland, Louisa Boersma, Frances Boersma, Georgia Boersma, and Milton Boersma; mother-in-law, Pat Mokas, and many beloved cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents James Wyatt and Twilla Steele.

Everett Eugene Wyatt lived a life brimming with passion and purpose. His gentle demeanor, charitable nature, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures stand as a legacy to all who were graced by his presence. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.

A memorial service honoring Gene's memory will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Saint Michael the Archangel Episcopal Church, 2025 Bellefonte Drive, Lexington, Kentucky, 40503, with the The Ven. Rev. Mother Laurie Brock presiding at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gene's honor can be made to Floracliff of Lexington.

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky, 40513 is honored to be in care of arrangements for Everett Eugene "Gene" Wyatt.
