Ezequiel Guzmán Arango, 83, of Veracruz, Mexico, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas with his family by his side on July 18, 2024.
Ezequiel, known for his joyfulness and generous heart, was born in Veracruz, Mexico on April 20, 1941 to Ezequiel Guzmán Flores and Mercedes Arango Oropeza. He graduated from the Instituto Tecnologico de Veracruz and worked as a public servant his entire life. He was known for his valiant and lifelong efforts to promote tourism, hospitality, culture, and community in
Veracruz and beyond. A person who never shied away from the service of others, Ezequiel was a notably accomplished man, whose achievements are well-renowned and highly regarded throughout the state of Veracruz. These included being named Honorary Councilor of Oviedo, being elected President of the Association of Hotels and Motels in Veracruz and Boca Del Rio, breaking several Guinness World Records, and organizing and spearheading the Veracruz Carnival. Since 1979, Ezequiel was owner and operator of Hotel Villas Santa Ana, through which he extended his joy, generosity, kindness, and altruism to provide quality hospitality and services to people the world over.
Ezequiel leaves behind a deep void in the communities that loved him so much. He was admired, respected, and loved by colleagues, employees, community members, friends, and most of all his family. In his life he rightfully fostered an honorable reputation, known widely for his leadership and unwavering kindness. Ezequiel never hesitated to help others and dedicated much of his life to improving Veracruz and its communities. He deeply valued his family and friends, who accompanied him during every stage of his life. An easygoing man and a great conversationalist, Ezequiel loved sharing his passions for cooking, marine life, cars, music, and dogs. In life, he was extremely grateful and, above all, proud of his daughter and beloved grandchildren, who
were his greatest source of joy and satisfaction. His heart was always with his family, friends, and the communities he dutifully and honorably served.
Ezequiel was preceded in death by his wife, Maria del Socorro Ortiz Gomez. He is survived by his daughter, Ana Miriam Guzmán Ortiz, son-in-law, Daniel Alberto Martinez, and his grandchildren, Daniel Alberto Martinez II and Juan Carlos Martinez.

Ezequiel, conocido por su alegría y corazón generoso, nació en Veracruz, México el 20 de abril de 1941, hijo de Ezequiel Guzmán Flores y Mercedes Arango Oropeza. Se graduó del Instituto Tecnológico de Veracruz y trabajó como servidor público toda su vida. Era conocido por su
valiente esfuerzo de toda la vida para promover el turismo, la hospitalidad, la cultura y la comunidad en Veracruz y más allá. Una persona que nunca rehuyó el servicio a los demás, Ezequiel fue un hombre notable y realizado, cuyos logros son bien conocidos y sumamente respetados en todo el estado de Veracruz. Entre sus logros, Ezequiel fue nombrado Concejal Honorario de Oviedo, fue elegido Presidente de la Asociación de Hoteles y Moteles de Veracruz y Boca Del Río, rompió varios Récord Mundial Guinness y organizó y encabezó el Carnaval de Veracruz. Desde 1979, Ezequiel fue propietario y operador del Hotel Villas Santa Ana, a través del cual extendió su alegría, generosidad, amabilidad y altruismo para brindar hospitalidad y servicios de calidad a personas de todo el mundo.
Ezequiel deja un gran vacío en las comunidades que tanto lo quisieron. El fue admirado, respetado y amado por sus colegas, empleados, miembros de la comunidad, amigos, y más que nada su familia. En su vida fomentó una reputación honorable y con gran razón, ampliamente conocido por su liderazgo y su bondad inquebrantable. Ezequiel nunca vacilaba en ayudar a los demás y dedicó una gran parte de su vida a mejorar Veracruz y sus comunidades. Valoraba
profundamente a su familia y amigos, quienes lo acompañaron en cada paso de su vida. Un
hombre tranquilo y un gran conversador, a Ezequiel le encantaba compartir sus pasiones por la cocina, la vida marina, los automóviles, la música y los perros. En vida, se sentía muy agradecido, pero sobre todo orgulloso de su hija y sus queridos nietos, quienes eran su mayor
fuente de alegría y satisfacción. Su corazón siempre estuvo con su familia, sus amigos y las comunidades quienes sirvió con diligencia y honor.
A Ezequiel lo precedió en la muerte su esposa, María del Socorro Ortiz Gomez. Le sobreviven su hija, Ana Miriam Guzmán Ortiz, su yerno, Daniel Alberto Martinez, y sus nietos, Daniel Alberto Martinez Guzmán y Juan Carlos Martinez Guzmán.
