Dr. F. Don Chantiles

Dr. F. Don Chantiles, 78 passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, February 19, 2026 as a result of a year long battle with Leukemia.

He was born in York on June 6, 1947 to the late Frederick J. and Doris M. Chantiles. He graduated from Central York High School in 1965, The University of Pittsburgh in 1969 and from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in 1973.

He completed his Internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Philadelphia in 1974. He then moved home to York to open his own private practice, Beech Tree Podiatry. He retired in 2024 after 50 years of practice.

He loved his patients and they loved his genuine kindness, compassion and offbeat sense of humor.

He was on the staff of Memorial Hospital, York Hospital and Apple Hill Medical Center. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association and The Porsche Club of America.

He shared his love of traveling with his family. Each trip was a new and exciting adventure for his children to experience. Every summer his family, which included his parents and his sister Sharon and her family, vacationed at Bethany Beach, Delaware. It gave them a chance to spend time together, relax and enjoy life.

Don leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Hollie Johns and her husband Eric, his son Corey Chantiles and his girlfriend, Brittany Albert. His sister Sharon and her husband, Kevin Wertz, his nephew D.F. Lance Chantiles-Wertz, his ex-wife and friend Sherry Baker Chantiles and his much loved German Shepherd, Tyson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 14 at Bethany Church York, 1401 Mt. Rose Avenue, York PA. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:00 with the memorial service starting at 11:00. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne Heberlig. John W. Keffer Funeral and Crematory, 902 Mt. Rose Avenue, York, Pa, will be in charge of cremation arrangements.

Donations in Don's memory may be made to the church he attended, Bethany Church York, 1401 Mt. Rose, York, PA, 17403 or Raven Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary, 1828 Water St. Washington Borough, PA 17582, because of his love of animals.
