Naomi Baxter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boulding Mortuary, Inc. on Feb. 23, 2026.
Naomi Constance (Walton) Baxter was born on February 24, 1933, to the late Robert K. Walton and Julia Alderbert (Buchanan) Walton. She transitioned peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, just shy of her 93rd birthday.

Naomi received her early education in one-room schoolhouses in Hartford County and the Althouse School in Stewartstown, Pennsylvania. From humble beginnings, she developed the strength, resilience, and faith that would guide her throughout her life.

In 1952, she married William Albert Baxter, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, hard work, and family. Side by side, they co-owned and operated Alcon Beauty Salon.

Naomi was employed at Orinoka Mills until her retirement. Never one to sit still, she later devoted her time and nurturing spirit to children through the Foster Grandparent Program at the Crispus Attucks Day Care Program.

She and her husband were faithful and active members of New Beginnings Fellowship (formerly St. James United Methodist Church) in Maryland until their health prevented them from attending. Even when she could no longer worship in person, her devotion to Christ remained unwavering. She faithfully watched services on Saturdays from Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and on Sundays from Shiloh Baptist Church, keeping her faith strong and steadfast.

Naomi found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking, crocheting and watching wrestling on TV. She also enjoyed watching episodes of Dr. Pimple Popper and just about everything on TLC. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family. Her fun-loving spirit and wonderful sense of humor brought smiles and laughter to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Albert Baxter; her sister, Creolia Fisher; and her brothers, William, Elwood, and Kenneth.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children, Arlene Bones and Bernard Baxter (Trayce); her sister, Thelma Turner; her God daughter, Diane Reams, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Naomi will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering faith, her devotion to family, and the love she gave so freely. Her beautiful legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
