Fannie Mae Mckenzie Damron, age 92, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed peacefully away on November 23, 2025, with fond memories of her family on her mind.
Fannie was born in the winter of 1932 on December 3rd. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jack and Ida Mae Young McKenzie. Fannie was devoted to her every growing large family. She raised 10 children with love, dedication, and patience. Fannie made keeping a home her full-time job. She made sure that her children knew they could always depend on her. Fannie filled the home with love, joy, and the comforting aroma of home cooked meals. Her children couldn't have asked for a better mother. Fannie was the perfect example of what it means to be Virtuous Proverbs Women. She stood firm in her beliefs and her faith was unwavering. Fannie loved to sew and brought beauty to life through every stitch. To be wrapped up in one of her quilts was like getting a hug from her. She made keepsakes that will be passed down through many generations to come. Raising 10 children, Fannie learned what it meant to be thrifty. She loved to go to the second-hand stores to browse for treasures.
Fannie leaves behind a legacy that will continue to be talked about for many years to come. She was blessed to be called grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother and to get to spend time with her grandchildren. They adored her just as she adored them. Left behind are many that will mourn her passing but if you look closely you will see a twinkle of her shining light in those she left behind. She just left that kind of mark on each life she touched.
Fannie leaves behind her beloved children Billy Joe Damron of Catlettsburg, KY, Gary Lee Damron and Danielle of Catlettsburg, KY, Roger Dale Damron and Tracy of Catlettsburg, KY, Brenda Jude and her husband Bill of Grayson, KY, Rebecca Mullins of Ashland, KY and Barbara Poff and her husband Jim of Grayson, KY, and a host of grandbabies that include great and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is her devoted companion, her dog Tinkerbell.
In addition to late parents, Fannie is enjoying a Heavenly reunion with her husband David Damron, her children Edna Mae Jent, Jackie David Damron, Walter Damron, and Kenneth Ray Damron, six brothers, and one sister.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home located at 2702 Panola Drive, Catlettsburg, KY 41129 beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Ray Sexton officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11am to 1pm. Fannie will be laid to rest at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens following the service.
