Peggy June "Nanny" Ford
1934–2025
"A life stitched with love leaves a legacy that time can never unravel."
Peggy June Ford, affectionately known as "Nanny" by her loving family, passed away peacefully while resting at Community Hospice on November 14,2025.
Peggy was born on May 28, 1934, the blessing of the late Grant and Cordie Meadows Kimble. She grew up with a gentle heart, a curious mind, and hands that were rarely still. Peggy loved to sew, create beautiful crafts, and spend quiet moments reading books about the Underground Railroad, a topic that deeply fascinated her.
Peggy was stay-at- home mom who centered her life around her home and family. She poured love into every meal, every stitch, and every gathering, making sure her home was always a place of comfort, warmth, and welcome.
Peggy lived to be 91 years old, a long and remarkable life through which she witnessed nearly a century of history unfold from world-changing events, like World War II, and the assassination of Kennedy to everyday moments of progress and wonder, like the rise of the internet. Through it all, she carried a steady grace, a steadfast spirit, and a heart full of stories to share with her every growing family.
Peggy will be remembered for her wisdom, creativity, and the unwavering love she shared with all who knew her.
She leaves behind a host of family that includes two loving daughters, Debbie Porter and Pamela Shavers and her husband Charles, all of Catlettsburg, KY, five grandchildren Derrick Porter, Tessa Porter, Jason Shavers, Jami Shavers, and Joni Copley, five great-grandchildren Sarah, Logan, Nathan, Mason, and Kenzie, and one great-great grandchild, Lainey. Also surviving is one sister, Bobbie Smith of Princeton, WV, and a very special niece, Karen Smith, many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her late parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Charles James Ford, two brothers, John Kimble and Ezra Kimble, and five sisters, Helen Pritchett, Ruby Fletcher, Norma Hill, Virginia Cooper, and May Lair.
A private memorial service is being held by family. No other arrangements at this time.

I so wish that my own mother, Waneta Hutchens, in photo, had known Peggy was still alive years ago. She named me after your mother, as you already know. You only do that with people you love. I can't tell you how excited I was to get a phone call from your mother just a few months ago. I feel there is lots of love within your family. God bless each and every one of you.
