Faye Green Starnes, age 85, of Cherryville, formerly of Kings Mountain, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Atrium Health Kings Mountain. She was born October 2, 1939, in Cleveland County to the late Howard and Martha Moore Green. She retired from Kings Mountain Knitting. Faye loved animals and her love shown through by all the animals she took in and raised. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. It was said that “she could turn a toothpick into an oak tree.” Faye enjoyed cleaning and having a nice welcoming place to spend time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Melton Starnes; and brothers, ODell Green and Ray Green.
Survivors include her children, Ted Mack Starnes of Lincolnton and Dale Starnes of Shelby, Lisa Starnes Canipe (Charles) of Cherryville; grandchildren, Craig Starnes, Kasey Nixon, Tiffany Starnes, Brittany Starnes, Matthew Canipe (Mary), and Tracy Canipe; seven great-grandchildren, Lorcan, Xavier, Skylar, Hailey, Makayla, Cory, and Zachary; two great-great-grandchildren, Zoey and Tobias; siblings, Gene Green (Doris), Arlene Green, Joyce Bridges, Nancy Martin, Geraldine King (Tony), and Margie Thomas (Michael); special friends, Brenda and Randy Funderburk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Rudisill officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
