John Michael Vannoy, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina. Born August 30, 1951, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Mike was the son of the late James Henry Vannoy and Helen Vannoy Graham. Mike was a resident of Bessemer City, North Carolina where he last lived with his wife of fifty-five years, Carolyn Elizabeth Vannoy and son, Christopher Ryan Vannoy.

Mike was a country boy who was raised on a dairy farm near Lake City, Tennessee, now known as Rocky Top, Tennessee. Give Mike a cup of hot coffee with home-made biscuits and gravy each morning and he’d be happy all day!

His big, friendly personality and contagious laugh enlarged his circle of friends. Mike never had a cross word to say about anyone and worked hard as a dairyman and heavy equipment operator to support his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carolyn and son, Christopher; siblings, Sandra Kaye (Charles) Lowry, and children, Jennifer (Edward) McAndrew, Melissa (Joseph) Beaty; Nancy Faye (William) Hillman, and children, Darren William (Rebecca) Hillman, Jeremy James Hillman; Brenda (Barry) Todd, and children, Nicole (Jeffery) Ayers, Clifford (Shannon) Sumpter, Sarah (Timothy) Hutchinson; sisters-in-law, Elaine Stewart, Tina Stewart, Donna (Jeff) Adams, and children, Melissa Harris Gaddis, Jeffrey Harris, Tyler Harris; and brother-in-law, Ronnie (Pam) Stewart, and children, Joshua (Courtney) Stewart, Sarah Stewart.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Brad Vannoy.

Mike was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

To honor Mike’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
