Florence Marie Thompson, 92, of Reynoldsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025.
Sister Florence Marie Thompson was born on Tuesday, September 20, 1932, to John and Grace Tyra. She was one of 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls. She married her beloved husband of 65 years, Reverend George Thompson, on August 30, 1952. Florence was the true help mate of George, working tirelessly behind the scenes as his biggest supporter. Their love was evident by all who encountered them and truly what George would call "Unforgettable", just like one of his favorite love songs to her.
As a minister's wife, she served in several capacities throughout the district for many of their 42 years in ministry, always fulfilling God's calling on her life. She had a heart for helping others and spread kindness wherever she went. As a prayer warrior, she spent hours interceding for not only her family but for countless others.
For Florence, her greatest achievement in her life was being a Mom and Nanni. Her three children were her top priority, selflessly giving of herself every moment possible to make sure they always knew how loved they were. The joy she found in being a Nanni was made clear to her beloved grandchildren, as she loved them fiercely and was never afraid of doing something silly just to put a smile on their faces. She was a true biblical representation of a virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31, a shining example of how a wife, mother, and grandmother should care for her family.
Sister Thompson went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and loving husband, George. She is survived by her children Sheri Delong (Robin), David Thompson (Stephanie), Beth Simpson (Dave) and her grandchildren Jeremy Delong (Amanda), Tiffany Simpson, Alexis Parrill (Tommy), Brooklyn Butts (Jonah), and Gentry (Zanda) Thompson. Also her great grandchildren Adrian, Isaiah, Alijah, Nevaeh, Naiyana, and Alivia.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, from 11am-Noon at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, with her funeral service to begin at Noon. Graveside service to follow at Lithopolis Cemetery.
