Frances "Fran" P. Spivak

Stow - Frances "Fran"  Pauline Spivak (ne'e Gatty) 98, of Poland, passed peacefully to be with the Lord on April 6, 2024.  Mrs. Spivak was born March 28, 1926 in Struthers, OH, cherished daughter of John and Antoinette (Sappio) Gatty.

Upon graduation from Struthers High School in 1944, Fran pursued her passion for beauty by attending Paramount Beauty School.  As a licensed cosmetologist, she established "Fran's Beauty Salon" in Struthers and Poland, Ohio.  In 1978, she opened ""Fashion Flair" - a successful women's clothing boutique in Poland's Town One Square.  Later, she joined her daughter, Paula, in  the establishment of "Kids Corner" - a specialty store featuring unique children's clothing.  She was a member of the Association of American Business Women as well  as a charter member of Holy Family Parish.  

Beyond her professional endeavors, Fran found delight in ballroom dancing, travel, gardening, and most of all, in the company of family and friends.  Her warmth and affection touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories that will endure forever.  

She was preceded in death by Edward G. Spivak, her beloved husband of 64 years, whom she married on November 20, 1948.  Together, they were blessed with three children, Paula Purves (Bill) of Hudson, OH, Thomas Spivak (Maria) of Poland, OH, and John Spivak of Hudson, OH.  Fran's legacy continues through her five grandchildren, Gillian Spivak of Hudson, OH, Krista Purves of New Bern, NC, Spencer (Kara) Purves of Hudson, OH, Cameron (Anne) Purves and Kathryn Purves of Hudson, OH; and eight great-grandchildren, Lily, Addison, Sophia, Bailey, Emma, Kenzie, Callum, and Adaline.  

The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers of Miracle City Hospice and Eden Vista of Stow, OH for their loving care.  

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street in Poland, followed by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 2729 Center Road in Poland with Fr. John Rovnak officiating. Interment will follow in the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
