Age 97, of Shaler Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2023, Frances was the beloved wife of the late Edward E. Justus; mother of Mary Ann Runco (John), Michael Justus (Jodie), Robert Justus (Darla), Edward Justus (Rob); daughter of the late George W. and Frances Holden; sister of George Holden (Charlotte), and the late Florence Bleil (Bill), May Myers (George); beloved Nana of Jennifer (Andrew), Brian, Steven (Rachel), and Nick; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Fran graduated from Shaler High School in 1944, where she participated in multiple clubs and was the head cheerleader. Later, she received her Advanced Teacher Certificate in Christian Doctrine from Duquesne University. She loved teaching CCD students at St. Mary's High School in Sharpsburg where she enriched their Christian Faith. Fran was the first lay person to be appointed to teach CCD at St. Mary's Parish and was also a long time member of the Christian Mothers Society. Fran enjoyed and was proud of working for Jay Costa, County Treasurer, where she was head of the Tax Refund Department for Allegheny County. Her most cherished role was that of being a wife, a mother, and a Grandmother (Nana).
Celebrate Frances’ life with her family on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Shaler Twp. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, Sharpsburg on Thursday at 10:30 AM. The family respectfully suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association- Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2835 E Carson St Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis TN 38105.
