Frances Christelle Greer McGowan

Frances Christelle Greer McGowan, born in Shreveport, LA on October 9, 1948, to William and Avis Greer. Frances was raised and lived most of her life in Minden, LA.

Frances was a member of the Minden High School class of 1966. Her career was mainly with Minden Bank and Trust Co, and Benton and Brown. She is survived by grandchildren, Autumn McGowan and Johnston McGowan, daughter-in-law, Karen McGowan, sister, Donna Greer Hinman, sister-in-law, Johanna Greer, nephews, Will Mercer, Eric Mercer, Raymond Greer, and niece Stephani Greer Jones and great nephew and nieces.

Preceded in death by her parents, William and Avis Greer, husband Mickey McGowan, son Mike McGowan, daughter, Lori McGowan, brothers, Ray Greer, Bob Greer, and sister, Martha Greer Furrate.

Frances was blessed to have special lifelong friends who have been with her through the good times and sad times. Anita Dulany, Cheryl Whatley, and Robert (Bobby) Evans, their care and concern have been priceless and much appreciated by her family.

To know Frances was to love her… family, friends, St Jude, and LSU were her passions. Her laughter was well known as well as her antics. The last year was difficult, but she never gave up. She is healed and able to laugh again.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Raymond Greer, Kurt Greer, Jeff Kratzer, Jeff McGowan, Connie Mack Martin, and Joe Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Whatley, Gary Brown, Johnny Benton, Bobby Evans, Ronnie Evans, and Derryl Holland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or donor’s choice.
