It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ms. Frances C. Meche announces her passing on March 26, 2025, at her residence in Welsh, LA. Her family has chosen to honor her wishes with a burial at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran Cemetery in Jennings, LA.
Francis was born in Midland, La on November 22, 1930, to Emile Breaux and Pearl Guillory-Breaux both of Midland, LA. As a residence of Welsh, LA, Frances married her husband, Robert L. Meche, in 1966. Her life spanned 94 years-almost a century! Her family tree was definitely large and majestic, filled with lovely branches of many shapes and sizes. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin etc. She also was a wonderful friend and a kind and thoughtful neighbor. Frances embraced life with all of her being, her exuberance matched only by the number of footsteps she clocked in a day. Long before scientists determined it was good for us; she knew that 10,000 steps were a minimum in getting everything done in a day! In fact, if you ever got separated from her in a store, if you could listen closely enough, you could locate her by the brisk clicking of her shoes as she scurried about. That love for life, that enthusiasm for what was before her and what was next to come, was a joy to behold. She was one in a million! No matter who you were in her life, she greeted you with a smile. Frances was very proud of her home; If you were a visitor, she was always a gracious hostess, offering you something to drink or eat, anytime of the day or night. You could count on Frances to tell you what she really thought about something-whether it was her opinion about your choice of clothing, your behavior, the way you rearranged your den, or the new shade of lipstick you just had to have-she had a way of doing it without hurting your feelings-that's why we all kept coming back for more throughout her whole life! Frances was very independent, rarely asking for help-she continued cutting her own grass into her 90's, climbing a ladder to clean out her gutters. She continued to sew until just a couple of years ago. So, who was this lady? Was she a superwoman with superpowers? Yes-to those of us who grew up around her, there was very little she couldn't do. As she grew older and slower and her remarkable energy ever so slowly changed, she impressed us in other ways. She taught us how to age gracefully, with dignity and joy. Living such a long life certainly came with many challenges, sacrifices, heartaches, pain and loss. She faced it all with courage and faith, always moving forward with hope for a better tomorrow. Today, Frances is finally resting-and we are left with hearts full of gratitude for having known her, for having loved her, and for the privilege of being loved by her. Our precious memories will bring us comfort and peace, with a mixture of tears and warm smiles. We will forever thank God for believing that we deserved her in our lives! Forever in our hearts, our dear and precious one.
Francis is survived by her grandsons, Daron McNabb of Texas, Darryl McNabb, Denton McNabb and Ray Bodle; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Lee Meche; her parents, Emile Breaux and Pearl Guillory-Breaux; one daughter, Pamela Ann Ardoin; one son, Keith Wayne McNabb; two brothers, Hillard Breaux and Ray Allen Breaux; one sister, Jean Fraser (Dick) of Jennings, LA
