Frances Helen Wilson, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Beloved Daughter of the late Jean Vernon and Margaret (Hassler-Prugh) Wilson. Sister of Edwin P. (the late Carol Kohn) Wilson Sr. Preceded in death by her Sister, Margaret Wilson Jones (the late Robert J. Jones) and Brother John Vernon Wilson Jr.; Loving Aunt to Carolyn (Greg) Wilson - Hafeman, Edwin P. Wilson Jr., Beverly (Louis) Jones-DiSabatino and Andrea (Steven Probst) Jones. She is also survived by seven Great Nieces and Nephews, and numerous first and second cousins in the Prugh and Wilson families.
Born on October 17, 1929, and raised in Pittsburgh, Frances graduated from Ben Avon High School and received a BA from Connecticut College. She went on to receive a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University. She had a long career as an Occupational Therapist starting at Children's Hospital in Washington, PA and then many years at the Pittsburgh Veterans Hospital. She was proud to be in Who's Who in American Women, The World, and in Medicine & Health.
Frances was a long time active member of numerous organizations, including The Junior League of Pittsburgh, The Twentieth Century Club, The University Club, Phipps Conservancy, Pittsburgh Symphony, the Carnegie Museums, the Children's Museum, Ben Avon Presbyterian Church, and the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh.
She volunteered her time as a Sunday School Teacher at Ben Avon Presbyterian, in the library of the Twentieth Century Club, at the Children's Library in the Carnegie Library (Northside/Allegheny) and at the Children's Museum.
She was an enthusiastic independent traveler, visiting family members around the country and taking guided tours to locations around the world, including Europe, Scandinavia, South America, and Israel. She was always curious, and interested in the lives of the people around her. She loved beautiful places, architecture, and artwork; met regularly with friends for lunches and celebrations; and remembered all the intricate stories of the unique individuals in her family tree.
Donations in her honor may be made to any of the museums and organizations of which she was a supporter
