Francis "Joe" Spinale, 78 of Rockland, MA
We are saddened to announce the death of Francis "Joe" Spinale. Joe passed away suddenly on Thursday August 14, 2025 surrounded by loving friends and family.
Joe was born on March 7, 1947 in Boston, MA to Ruth (Nelson) and Guiseppe Spinale of the West End, where they resided until the City's Urban Renewal project forced the family to relocate to Ruth's childhood neighborhood of Dorchester. Joe grew up in the Codman Square area and attended Boston Public Schools, where he graduated from Charlestown High School, excelling in the Electrical program.
After High School, Joe entered the U.S. Army, where he served for many years in the Army Reserves.
Joe worked as an Electrician in the Metro Boston area, and was sworn into Local 103, IBEW in 1976. During his career, he worked as a General Foreman for multiple contractors and was proud to be a part of major construction projects such as the Stop & Shop complex in Reedville, and President's Place in Quincy. However, it was his work for Bechtel on Boston's Central Artery Project that Joe was most proud. He was on the project from 1993, until his retirement in 2005, and knew every square inch of the jobsite. Joe was a proud and dedicated member of Local 103 for almost 50 years, where he was a Foreman, Steward, and member of the Political Action Committee.
In his younger years, Joe enjoyed skiing, golfing, cooking, and relaxing with Dewar's on the rocks. He always rooted for his beloved Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins, and deeply enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Besides Local 103, Joe was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sons of Italy.
Joe married his wife Mary (Patrician) in 1994 and loved her deeply. The two spent many years together in their renovated 1800's North Easton Farmhouse, where they both loved cooking and entertaining for friends. They traveled the globe together, visiting places such as Rome, Sicily, Greece, Spain, and The Caribbean.
In Joe's later years, he was a devout parishioner at St. Mary's Church in Hanover, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister every Saturday.
Joe's greatest passion in his retirement was spending time with his grandson Cameron. Cam was the apple of his eye, and the time they spent together was deeply healing for Joe after Mary passed away in 2024.
Joe was pre-deceased by his Wife Mary. He is survived by his Stepson Jason Pryor and his wife Jen of Whitman, daughter Deanna Zarella of Tilton, NH, brother Ted of Florida, sister Leonarda Spinale Rea of Hingham, loving Grandson Cameron Pryor, longtime best friend Mike Marshall of Weymouth, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton followed by a funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main Street, Easton, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in South Easton Cemetery, Easton.
