Frank L. Acampora, Sr., 90, of Bristol, beloved husband of Josephine (Labato) Acampora, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025.

Born in New Haven on July 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Anna (Giordano) Acampora. Frank attended local schools, graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical High School, and continued his education at the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut.

On March 29, 1957, Frank proudly entered the United States Marine Corps, where he faithfully served his country until March 28, 1963, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. During his time in the service, Frank met the love of his life, Josephine Labato. The two were married on September 2, 1961, and went on to build a beautiful life together, raising two sons, Michael and Frank Acampora.

After completing his military service, Frank began a long and dedicated career with Associated Spring, Barnes Group, where he worked for 38 years before retiring in 1997 at the age of 62. He became an active member of the Bristol community, participating in the Bristol Jaycees, the Bristol Elks, and the Bristol Police Department. Frank also served as Union President of Local 712 and as Shop Chairman for Associated Spring, Barnes Group.

Frank embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He discovered a passion for golf, often spending his free time on the course, and enjoyed traveling with Josephine throughout the United States, including two memorable trips to Italy. He also found great pleasure in woodworking and gardening. A devoted sports fan, Frank loved cheering on his New York Yankees and both the UConn men's and women's basketball teams, he was very proud of his grandson Joseph and loved watching him show off his talents in many sporting events, especially baseball.

Frank was predeceased by his brothers Vincent and Anthony Acampora, his sister-in-law Maureen Acampora, and just three months and one day prior to his own passing, his beloved son, Michael Acampora.

Besides his wife, Josephine, he leaves his son, Frank Acampora Jr. and his wife Michelle of Bristol; his daughter-in-law, AnnMarie Acampora; his grandson, Joseph Acampora; his brother, Salvatore "Duke" Acampora, his sister, Rose Ann Manton and her husband Bill; brother-in-law, Anthony Labato and sisters-in-law Susanne Acampora and Barbara Acampora, as well as several nieces and nephew.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Frank's life on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol. Calling hours will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 111 School Street, Bristol. Following the Mass, Frank will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, 522 Terryville Avenue, Bristol.
