Frank Ramirez Sr.

Frank Ramirez Sr., age 78, of Rockdale, Texas, went to join our Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. The viewing will be on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 6-7pm followed by the Rosary from 7-8pm at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 10 am, there will be a funeral mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rockdale, followed by the burial at San Jose Cemetery in Hearne, Texas.
Frank Sr. was born in Robstown, Texas, on October 10, 1944, to Carlos and Benita (Vela) Ramirez. He graduated from Calvert High School in 1963. He began working at Alcoa in 1964 and retired in 2003, during that time he completed an apprentice program for Carpentry. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus#7014. His faith in God never wavered throughout his life. Coach Ramirez was a beloved baseball coach and mentor to his sons and many youth members in the Rockdale community. Frank never knew a stranger, greeting everyone with a smile, saying 'hi', or stopping to talk while he was out and about running errands around Rockdale. He was the most beautiful, Godly, amazing, giving, friendly, tender-hearted soul, husband, brother, uncle, Pops, PawPaw, Coach and friend. He will be forever in our hearts.
Frank Sr. is preceded in death by his son, Frank Jr., his parents, Carlos and Benita, and brothers, Jesse, Richard, and Robert.
Frank Sr. married Lydia (Barrera), the love of his life, on July 10, 1965. They were blessed with three sons, Frank Jr., Cruz, and Danny. He is survived by his wife, Lydia, of 58 years, and sons, Cruz and wife, Natalie Nichter-Ramirez, of Cedar Park, Texas, and Danny and wife, Sherry Ramirez, of Rockdale; grandchildren Kolton, Ryleigh & Reese, Brandon & Shaylin (Montgomery), and MaKayla; and great-grandchildren, Kassidee & Kelseigh. Surviving brothers are Victor Ramirez and wife, Mary Jane, and Charlie Ramirez and wife, Nellie, all of Hearne, Texas, Raymond Ramirez and wife, Julie, and David Ramirez, all of Calvert, Texas, and Pete Ramirez and wife, Liz, of New Mexico. Serving as pallbearers are Rodney Barcak, T.J. Barrera, Milton Frei, Vincent Jimenez, Raymond Ramirez Jr., and Paul Skubal.
