Frank Rossetti passed away on February 24, 2025 spending his last days with his family by his side. Frank was born on December 30, 1937 in Brooklyn NY to an Italian immigrant father, Nicola, and an Italian-American Mother Sue (nee Mottola). Frank was the oldest of 4 siblings who were raised by their mother and grew up in Brooklyn. Frank attended The Central Needle Trades High School and earned his diploma while also working to help support his family. On October 4,1958 Frank married Phyllis Lombardi. The two were married for nearly 65 years and raised three children, Suzanne, Steven, and Maria.
At a very young age Frank took on many of the responsibilities of his absent father. He became the patriarch of his family and continued in this role for the rest of his life. Throughout his life he provided emotional and financial support, and sound advice to his immediate and extended family. He was the rock that so many depended on.
Frank was a man of humble beginnings who, through hard work, built a beautiful life for his wife, children, and grandchildren. As a young man, he started a business with his brothers. Eventually he found a niche in the construction industry and branched off on his own, forming Ross Laboratory Sales. He quickly earned a reputation in the industry as a no-nonsense businessman, and a man who could be relied upon to overcome unseen setbacks and obstacles to get the project completed. Despite his tough exterior and a sometimes-intimidating demeanor, Frank always treated everyone ethically and fairly. Steven later joined his father at Ross Laboratory Sales and they worked side by side for nearly 40 years. Frank took great pride in the business that he and his son built.
Frank was a generous person who gave to many charities without seeking recognition or accolades. He accepted all people and had an empathy and compassion for those less fortunate than him. His quiet acts of kindness touched many lives.
Frank was happy with the simple things in life and never wanted much. He loved a good game show, especially Family Feud. He liked scratch offs. He liked listening to country music. He liked taking his family out to dinner and God forbid if anyone tried to pick up the check. Frank was a great tipper and is certain to be missed by the servers at the club. He enjoyed golfing and going to lunch with his buddies. He was a real dog lover and all the pets knew just where to sit when looking for table scraps. Frank could fix almost anything, often struggling and swearing his way through a repair, but always getting the job done.
Frank was a baseball fan who shared his love of the game with his son Steven. He coached Stevens little league team for many years and was an active member of South Shore Little League in Staten Island, NY. Later in life, Frank spent time proudly watching his grandson Thomas play baseball. He was Thomas greatest fan and he never missed a game.
One of Franks greatest joys was being a grandfather. The grandchildren always loved spending time with grandma and grandpa. Grandma was the source of many good ideas for fun, and Grandpa always made them happen. For his grandchildren, there was no wish he would not grant. He was the source of many fun activities and adventures, from a simple trip to the playground to family vacations. The grandchildren called Grandpa often. He was at the top of their lists to share good news and achievements. They looked toward their grandfather for all sorts of advice which was dispensed with love, and always on target. Grandpa encouraged his grandchildren to see their potential and reach for the stars.
Frank is predeceased by his wife Phyllis, his brothers Dominick and Anthony and his sister Lucy. He is survived by his children Suzanne and her husband Jimmy, Steven, and Maria and her husband Alex, his grandchildren Andrea and her husband Michael, Thomas, Laura and Frank, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was one of a kind. He was larger than life and he will be missed by all who knew him.
