Frank J. Wierzbicki, Jr., passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. He is survived by his mother, Connie Wierzbicki, partner Heather Mustin, sister Marie (Ryan) Bastine, and children Nicholas, Trinity, Alurea, Neenja, and Zuri. He also leaves behind his dogs, Oonagh and Fergus, and many other friends and loved ones. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank Sr. and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Frank was born on May 30, 1981, in South Bend. Growing up, he was known to be a jokester. He was full of life and loved making people laugh. He also enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and making food for his family. In addition to his comedic and cooking skills, he also played a mean saxophone. Above all else, Frank was a born protector.
His protective nature led him to a career with the United States Army. Over the course of his service and five deployments, he earned three Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service medal, the Iraq Campaign medal with campaign star, and many more. Frank was a true patriot and proud to serve his country. He was medically retired after 18 years, after which he began working in the private sector, though he remained a soldier at heart until the end.
Though he was not often geographically near his children, he carried each of them in his heart. He spoke of them often and was eager to see who they will become in this world.
Frank spent the last eight years in a loving relationship with Heather. They joked that she was the "Beauty" to his "Beast". They balanced each other out and filled the voids in each other's hearts. Heather brought him peace and comfort with a healthy dose of adventure, while Frank brought her security and protection. He had her on his left, always.
In keeping with Frank's wishes, no formal service will be held. However, military honor's will be rendered at 2pm on Saturday July 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Cemetery. 24980 IN-2, South Bend, Indiana. A luncheon will follow at Southside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a veteran's organization of your choice, such as the Wounded Warrior Project.
