Frankie “Frank” San Miguel, 59, of Amarillo, passed surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Grace Church, located at 4111 Plains Blvd.

Frank was born on July 16, 1965, in Dimmitt, Texas, and was raised in Hereford, where he graduated from high school in 1983. He graduated from TSTI in Amarillo with an associate’s degree in 1985. Frank had a wide-ranging career that spanned over three decades across the country, with many of those years dedicated to the maintenance departments of Hereford ISD and Amarillo ISD. He recently retired from AISD after 15 years of service.

Frank’s true passion was music; he was known as a bassist extraordinaire with a career spanning 45 years, beginning in Hereford before he became a staple in the Amarillo music scene. During those years, he shared his talents with many bands, including Overload, Locuraz, Tung N’ Gruve, Skratch, Slipstream, Sativa, and, most recently, a fifteen-year partnership with The Solano Project. Music afforded him the opportunity to play with many talented musicians he admired, including those within his own family; he shared the stage with his son, Kevin, and nephews Gilbert Perez, Michael, and Eric San Miguel. His best friend, Marla Darnell, was ever-present and could often be found recording his live performances.

His greatest accomplishments were being baptized and being a loyal friend. He loved spreading the word, writing music, rock climbing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Olga; his maternal grandparents and guardians, Domingo and Lucia Romo San Miguel of Hereford; as well as his sisters, Alice San Miguel, Linda Garcia, and Esther Trevino; a nephew, Isaac Trevino; and a great-nephew, Diego San Miguel.

Left to carry on his memory his wife, Sharon San Miguel and their daughter, Marissa both of Amarillo; his two sons, Kevin San Miguel and wife, Alicia, and Marshall San Miguel and wife, Braley, and their two children, Walker and Aloy, and the boys’ mother Louan Powers all of San Antonio; two brothers, Ruben San Miguel and wife, Cecilia of Canyon and Joe David “J.D.” San Miguel and wife, Esmeralda of Hereford, as well as many nieces and nephews.

As Frank always used to say, “God first, if God willing and God allows,” we will meet again.
