Franklin Allen Burke Jr. was born on December 6, 1978, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Bishop Franklin A. Burke Sr. and First Lady Lori Ann Griffin Burke. He was also affectionately known as Nunnie, G-Man, Big Burke, Big Ben, Frank, Uncle Boo Boo, and "Thee Amazing Son". He departed this life and gained his wings on September 25, 2025.
Franklin accepted Christ at the age of ten and was baptized at Greater Harvest Baptist Church by the late Dr. Noily Paul Jr. He received his education in the New Orleans School System, attending Saint David Elementary, Thomas A. Edison Elementary, and Alfred Lawless Junior and Senior High Schools. From an early age, Franklin was known for his contagious smile, kindness, generosity, and determination. He grew up in the Lower Ninth Ward, where he developed a love for sports and music. He sang in the school choir, played the tuba while marching in many parades, and played football from seventh to twelfth grade. Franklin was also a member of the Junior ROTC and the Future Business Leaders of America programs. After graduating from high school in 1997, Franklin completed the cement finisher's program at Delgado Community College and worked as an apprentice with the Cement Masons Local #567.
Being a father was Franklin's greatest joy. He devoted his life to raising his children, Faith, Hope, and Franklin III, with love, patience, and unwavering support. Franklin took great pride in being "G Man" to Duke and Dami Carter. He cherished every moment spent with his grandkids. Franklin treasured his marriage to Latasha, his loving wife of two years. Although their time together was brief, their bond was filled with love, joy, and shared memories that brought happiness to both their lives.
Franklin was known for lighting up the room with his smile and always having a humble heart. He was the best brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to those in his life. He was a family man who enjoyed cooking and taking care of others. He touched the lives of so many people. Throughout the years, Franklin enjoyed his time as a member of the Louisiana Kingz Car Club and playing drums for Good Faith Baptist Church, New Home Ministries, and Fifth African Baptist Church. Later in his life, he started a business with his father called "Triple B Lawn Care and Concrete Services," with the slogan "We Are Here To Help You." They have over fifty yards and have completed multiple concrete jobs. He worked for Boh Bros Construction Company for over 25 years.
Franklin leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Latasha Burke, his three children, Faith (Damon), Hope and Franklin III; two grandchildren; Duke and Dami Carter; his parents Bishop Franklin A. Burke Sr. and Lori A. Burke, sisters Trenise (Lloyd) Burke-Brown, LaKeisha (Glenn) Burke-Williams; Tanesha Pete; and Amika Carr; mother in law Alzora Marshall; sister in law Juleah (Glynn) Ragas, Tyra Marshall; nephews and nieces Summer and Khoi Brown, Aalyiah Williams, Darius Jr. and Trinity Braxton, Marquis McPherson Jr., Jamarcus Dickerson, Talia Jackson, and Blake Batiste; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins godchildren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Lee and Marie Griffin, Lillie Mae Noah Burke, Adam Fred Burke, and Rev. Howard Washington Sr.
Family and Friends of the family are all invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, October 4, 2025, 10:00AM, at Good Faith Baptist Church, 1703 Benton St., New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation will begin at 9:00AM, with service to follow at 10:00AM. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery.

To the Burke Family
My prayers and love are with the family. I knew Franklin as a little boy growing up in Greater Harvest B.C. where his family served faithfully. I know God makes no mistakes. Even though your hearts are heavy, God knows and he cares. Bonnie is resting in the arms of Jesus.
