Cresaptown – Freda Jene (Stevanus) Crowe, 95, of Cresaptown, passed away holding her daughter's hands on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her home.
Born December 23, 1928 in Boynton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elsie (Bowman) Stevanus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eldon "Bud" Crowe; siblings, Pauline Winters and Harold Stevanus.
Freda was a 1946 graduate of Allegany High School. She worked at Allegany County Nursing Home and Kelly Springfield Tires. She also worked at Newberrys, GC Murphy and Woolworth.
She was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church. While at the church, she was a scripture gleaner. She was part of the Bel Air Garden Club and was the secretary of the St. Ambrose bowling league.
In her younger years, Freda loved hiking on weekends, picnics, traveling, riding bikes and always going on an adventure.
Freda enjoyed eating sweets, reading her bible and listening to country music. She liked putting puzzles together and number crosswords. She enjoyed going to Allegany High School football games, and later watching them on TV. Freda liked watching the NFL and Penn State football games.
Freda is survived by her daughters, Vikki Border (Bob), both of Cresaptown, Nancy Supinsky, of McCoole; grandchildren, Brianne Gross (Hanson), both of Cumberland, Zackeray Border (Sierra Sines), both of Cross Junction, VA, Megan Turner, of McCoole; great-grandchildren, Saylor and Aiden Gross, Nautika and Makenna Turner, Mason, Briton, and Ronin Border; siblings, Fay Stevanus and Ray Stevanus (Barbara).
In honor of Freda's memory, the family would love to see everyone in blue or Allegany High School Apparel at the funeral home.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown on Monday, January 15 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m..
A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Buhrman officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to be directed to Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
