Frederick Paul Funk passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025.

Fred was born in Easton, PA, on May 13, 1946, to Pauline Frances Funk (nee Weaver) and Frederick Max Funk. He met his beloved wife Pam (nee Smith) when they were in the tenth grade at Easton Area High School. They graduated together in 1964. He later attended Gettysburg College and graduated with a BS in 1968. He and Pam married on August 10, 1968. Over the course of his long career in the pharmaceutical industry (Lederle Laboratories and Pfizer), he obtained his MS from Rutgers University and his MBA from Iona College. He retired in 2010. He and Pam raised their family in New City, New York.

He loved reading, jogging, coaching little league and watching football and baseball, both live and on television. His quick wit and wry sense of humor kept everybody on their toes. He also cherished time with family at the beach, especially summers at Ocean Beach, New Jersey and Sandbridge Beach, Virginia. He was very involved in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, including several years serving as a Deacon and Church Council President.

He and Pam retired to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2011, where he became very involved in the Metrolina Association for the Blind, both as a client and Chairman of the Board of Directors. After he and Pam moved to Aldersgate in 2020, he enjoyed meeting new friends and becoming involved in several groups and activities, including tending to their garden and telling stories and jokes over an OMB Copper at the Rose & Ivy Pub.

He is survived by his wife Pam, along with his two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Michelle, Brad and Dawn and four grandchildren Ian, Benjamin, Colin and Samantha. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Nan and John Lapeire, sister and brother-in-law Nora and Jeff Henry, his cousin Chuck Fox and his wife Evangeline, his cousin Shelley Lindenmoyer and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Aldersgate UMRC, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina, in the RHCC Fellowship Hall with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations In Memory of Frederick Paul Funk be made to Metrolina Association for the Blind (MAB), 704 Louise Avenue, Charlotte, North Carolina 28204, www.mabnc.org/donate or the Aldersgate Residents Assistance Fund, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215.
