In loving memory of Fred Kerecman Sr., 77, who passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, leaving behind a legacy filled with cherished memories and laughter. Born on January 11, 1946, Fred's life was a testament to hard work, humor, and unique charm that left an indelible mark on those around him.
Fred's journey from the family farm to his dedicated 37 years behind the wheel of a semi-truck driving for Lyons Transportation Lines and Consolidated Freightways -a career he retired from-showcased his unwavering work ethic and a knack for thriftiness, where every penny counted.
Fred's jovial nature and penchant for storytelling made him a cherished figure in the neighborhood. Friends and relatives flocked to his doorstep to share in laughter, stories, and the well-known phrase he often shared, "You know Bub, you don't have to be crazy to live here, but it helps." With a dash of Archie Bunker's wit, Fred had a way of brightening any gathering.
Fred was preceded in death by his son, Fred Kerecman Jr.; his parents, George and Pauline Kerecman; his brother George Kerecman; infant daughter Mary; and his father and mother in law, Joseph and Stella Graczyk.
At the heart of Fred's world was his beloved family. He shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with Marlene, a union defined by love and unwavering support. Together, they nurtured a loving family: Sherry (Don) Trapp, Melissa (Vito) Randazzo, Suzanne (Bob) Lyle, Felicia; and daughter-in-law Michele Kerecman. He is further survived by his brother, John Kerecman, and many nieces and nephews.
Fred's legacy extended through the generations, embracing grandchildren-Matt (Kayla), Amanda (Ryan), Morgan, Natali (Randy), Nicholas, Lindsey, Taylor, Grace, Gabe, Faith, and his dear little buddy Griff -and great-grandchildren-Colton, Brayden, Sammy, Stanley, and Sofia-who were a source of immeasurable joy to Fred.
In honoring Fred's simplicity and preferences, there will be no calling hours. Instead, his memory will be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Fred's warmth, humor, and wisdom will continue to echo through the stories shared by family and friends. Rest peacefully, Fred-your tales will forever bring joy to our lives.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 3415 Wallace St., on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to UPMC Hospice, 1700 Peach St #244, Erie, PA 16501.

Marlene, and girls and family,
Fred was a great neighbor to Ken and I for 41 years. He always had time to wave as he drove by or say hello and talk as we walked by. He would be there if Ken needed help with something in the yard or garage. Kevin has fond memories of him treating him with a joke or to tell him to get the heck out of his yard. Please accept our condolences.

When I first moved onto Horseshoe I was a city boy. Fred was always there to help me become a country (county!) man. Just always available to help in any issue that would arise. Most of all, there was always a few beers and tall tails shared. With a few other neighbors we invented the Horseshoe Drive Farmers Association which was just another excuse to BS and laugh. You were the Mayor of the "Shoe" and truly one of a kind. I will always remember and miss you, Fred. Fly High and Shine Brightly!

Fred was truly a best man: "our" Best Man. 50 years ago Fred was Larry's best friend and was the best man at our wedding. Living across the street from each other made that friendship even stronger. We watched as Fred and Marlene raised their family and became friends with them as well. Those friendships still stand. Every Christmas season Fred and I would be putting up our Christmas lights at the same time. After Larry and I moved to Florida many years later, I'd call Fred when I was putting up my Christmas lights and and ask if he was putting his lights up too? There are too many memories to share here. Living so close to each other made a memory every day! Marlene, Sherry, Melissa, Suzanne and Felicia, we will remember Fred with love. We send our love and sympathy to you all and to your extended families.

My deepest condolences. So sorry for your loss. Fred was a good man. I spent many childhood days at the Kerecman house sometimes overstaying my welcome, and I remember Fred saying " My bub, go tell your father he's calling you". LOL I knew it was time to go then.

This photo is exactly how I´ll remember Fred - sitting in the corner of his garage, next to the workbench with a beer and a cigarette nearby. A game or a NASCAR race on the television and, of course, the garage door wide open. "Bob the Builder" as he called me, a pet name for me from my wife, Suzie. My colorful language vocabulary increased greatly speaking with him over the years. My favorite - describing a hard rainfall using a cow (with a unique anatomy) and a flat rock. The actual phrase would never be published here. I´ll miss you Bub, but I´m quite certain you won´t need ice water where you´re headed. Put the hammer down, the chicken coop is closed and straight on into the sunset - catch you on the flip side, good buddy! 10-3 and 10-7
