Frederick Charles "Ricky" Shaw 54, of Murphy passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Ricky lived in Murphy from a young age and was a graduate of Murphy High School. Ricky served in the United States Marine Corps stationed in both Japan and California as a field artillery cannoneer with the 11th Marine Corps Regiment. Ricky received an associates degree from Tri-County Community College and began building homes with local contractors. He then worked for MOOG for fifteen years. He found the most joy while working for MGM Brakes. Ricky was a consistent and hard worker. He was also always willing to offer a helping hand. His proudest moment was becoming a father. Not only was he a devoted and active father but also a best friend to his children. Someone they could always turn to for help and guidance. Ricky was baptized alongside his youngest son Nathan and was a child of God's. Ricky lived his life showing kindness to all and carried himself with honor and respect.
He was the son of the late Fred and Rose Hart Shaw. He was also preceded in death by a brother Paul Tefft.
Survivng are six children Donavon Shaw of Glendale, Arizona, Nathan Shaw and fiancé Serenity Sutton of Murphy, Caleb Edwards of Murphy, Dominick Terassi of Murphy and Kayla Christy of Georgia; one sister Robin Ayres of Murphy; and one brother, Patrick Tefft of Hawaii; seven grandchildren, Kaiden, Lilly, Wayah, Azalea, Dwayne, Rosie and Marcie; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and his two dogs Buttercup and Bruno.
A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 1, 2025 at Murphy Church of Christ with Military Honors provided by U.S. Marine Corps, Hayesville VFW Post 6812, Hayesville American Legion Post 532, and Murphy American Legion Post 96.
The family received friends from 1-2:00 pm Monday, September 1, 2025 at Murphy Church of Christ prior to the service.
