Fremont Grimes Obituary
Monty lived in the Rose City/Lupton area since 1996 formerly of Brighton. He married Phyllis (Harris) Mayhew on June 13, 2015 in Rose City.
Monty graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy in 1966. He was a trooper for 26 years and was promoted to a sergeant before he retired in 1992. He loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed playing softball with the Bay City Post. He also enjoyed playing Keno and drinking beer.
Monty is survived by his wife Phyllis Grimes of Rose City; daughters, Monica (Michael) Krist of Swartz Creek and Shari St. Louis of West Branch; grandchildren, Billy (Samantha) Dobson, Kenneth (Brittany) Dobson, Marc (Danielle) St. Louis, Tyler (Kandee) St. Louis, John Turner, and Sherry (Tony) Chipman; great grandchildren, Amelia, Avery, Jameson, Colton, Benjamin; Mike (Danielle) Krist, Sylas, Bentley, Kamden, Mateo, and Carter, stepsons, Roger (Laura) Mayhew and Joe (Nicki) Mayhew; step grandchildren, Cassandra (Kirk) Lieber, Mis (Tara) Mayhew, Jessica (Cody) Burgher, Caryn (Scott) Kearns, Callie (Justin) Upton, and Jodi Mayhew; step great grandchildren, Aria, Stuart, Emily, Tanner, Kayden, Austin, Loryn, Lindsey, Brennon, and Alli.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Eunice Grimes, first wife, Sharon Grimes and granddaughter, Samantha Dobson.
Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City will begin on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Damon Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
