Frieda Mavis Hoffman, 101, of Bloomington, passed away August 6, 2025, after a long life that touched so many others. At the Bloom Assisted Living facility where she spent her two years, she was referred to, always with a smile, as "Miss Frieda" and "The Boss Lady". She was born on the family farm in Royal Center, Indiana on February 21, 1924, to John Harvey and Mary Lavina (Vernon) Harvey. Frieda met George Hoffman in high school. They married the July following graduation in 1942. They were married 58 years and moved to Bloomington in 1964. While in Bloomington, Frieda worked at Bloomington High School North as cafeteria supervisor. Frieda was a member of the First Christian Church for 60 years and served as a deacon, board member, and other volunteer positions. She was involved in many volunteer and charitable activities including: Monroe County United Ministries and volunteering at Bloomington hospital. Through the years, she created beautiful, much-valued quilts for every member of her family, including great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Linda Meyer, Deborah Mayhew (Larry), and Samuel Hoffman (Jan). Four grandchildren: Joseph Meyer, Bradley Meyer (Deborah), Matthew Mayhew (Kelli), and Tori Hoffman. Six great-grandchildren: Michael Meyer (Sarai), Christopher Meyer (Alex), Alayne Meyer, Nicholas Meyer, Rachael Meyer, Makena Mayhew, and Kaiden Lane. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son-in-law (Joseph Meyer), and great grandson (Stephen Meyer). Friends may call from 10:30-12:00 PM, on Friday, August 15, at First Christian Church, at 205 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47408. Funeral services will be held at noon at First Christian Church following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Monroe County United Ministries or First Christian Church.
