G. Wayne Scruggs, 77, husband of Suzette "Sue" Scruggs, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
Born in Pickens, SC, he was the son of the late Claude "Tom" and Allie Mae (Nix) Scruggs. Wayne proudly served his country in the Unites States Marine Corps and greatly respected his fellow Veterans. He continued to show his support of the armed forces and after retirement, joined the Marine Corps League.
Wayne retired from Duke Power and leaves behind many colleagues and friends. He found entertainment by watching NASCAR and listening to songs by one of his favorite singers, Allison Krause. He was thrilled to have attended one of her recent concerts. Above all, Wayne loved his family, enjoyed lunch dates with his nieces, and spending time with those closest to his heart. He will surely be missed.
Those left to cherish Wayne's memory include his beloved wife of 44 years, Sue Scruggs; a daughter, Kristy Rogers and her husband Brett; a granddaughter, Brittani Vickery; a grandson, Brandon Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Baz and Baela; two sisters, Evelyn and Ellen; three nieces, Debby, Missy, Patricia; three nephews, Terry, Michael, Matthew; and two great-nieces, Channing and Crystal.
Along with his parents, Wayne is predeceased by three brothers, Harold Scruggs, Tom Scruggs, and Randall Scruggs; and a sister, Vicky Poole.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. The entombment will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in Graceland East Memorial Park Mausoleum.
