Gail Jones Newell, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away at Wayne UNC Health Care on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Born on July 25, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Claxton Jones and Mary Kathryn Weeks Jones.
In addition to her parents, Gail is preceded in death by brother, Phil Jones.
Gail is survived by her daughter, Brooke Newell Vandiford and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Madelyn, Landon, and Garrett; siblings, Shirley Davis and husband, Ronnie, Mike Jones and wife, Debbie, and Eugene Jones and wife, Beth. Gail is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Gail dedicated 48 years of her life to UniFirst, where she was known for her incredible work ethic, reliability, and kind spirit. Her coworkers remember her as a valued employee who could always be counted on and who brightened every day with her warm smile and positive attitude.
Above all, Gail's greatest joy was her family. She was the proud and loving mother of her daughter, Brooke, and the adoring "Gigi" to her beloved grandchildren, Madelyn, Landon, and Garrett. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by them, sharing stories, hugs, and making lasting memories.
Gail will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A service to celebrate Gail's life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Stoval presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. A private interment will be held at Princeton Cemetery.
