Barbara Gail Spadoni, 73, of Bryant, AR, became an angel on Saturday, February 4, 2023. She was born December 7, 1949, in Sacramento, CA, to Jim and Margie Prine Bubbus. She was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School, where she was a cheerleader. Gail was a loan officer for Simmons Bank, having worked there for over 34 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clifford Bubbus, David Bubbus, Paul Bubbus, and Calvin Prine; and a niece, Ellie Harris.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Spadoni; daughter, Andrea Smith and husband, Patrick; a son, Jerimy Spadoni; five grandchildren, Addison Smith, Kaiden Smith, Sylas Smith, Evan Spadoni, and Ethan Spadoni; a brother, Larry Bubbus; a sister, Teresa Harris; and brother-in-law, Joe Spadoni and wife, Betty.
Gail was always the best at everything. She did love, help nurture, have fun, laugh and teach. If she couldn't give her best, she didn't do it. "Make me proud" was a staple. Billy was the love of her life that she treated as her hero, and she his queen. She loved her family and lived to be with them, share old movies and her love of God.
Her mother, Margie, was her image of a perfect lady, mother and role model whom she adored beyond love. Gail still kept in constant contact with her two best high school friends, three best forever friends, close cousins, keeping them laughing and full of her views. Gail loved shopping, slot machines (oops!), and most of all being Nana to her 5 grandsons.
Gail was the force that kept our family grounded, in line, and at attention. Sometimes she was called Warden and Drill Sergeant, but in a respectful way. She taught us about God, love of family, the social graces and especially to love each other, with a few tiffs along the way.
She loved old movies, pretty things, a comfortable home, the color orange, being fashionable with hair, nails and make-up perfectly done.
She had the same job for over 34 years, working herself up the corporate ladder, while always being a homeroom or team mother. All our friends loved her. She was known for her entertaining, decorating, and delicious home cooked from scratch meals. She was proud of her Greek heritage. Andrea and Jerimy were her mission in life to love, protect, and guide. Her grandchildren were the stars in her eyes. Ellie was her 2nd daughter. She tried to inspire, encourage, sometimes bribing us, to stay in church and praise God, and we love her for it.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 P.M. Friday, February 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, followed by a celebration of her life at 1:30 P.M. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202 or the Humane Society of Saline County, 7600 Bauxite Hwy. Bauxite, AR 72011.
