Gary Alan Benedict, beloved husband, devoted father, son, brother, and loyal friend, passed away on June 19, 2025, at the age of 56. He was born on May 13, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Edward and Georgette Benedict.
Gary graduated from Northeast Catholic High School and went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Saint Joseph's University. He later completed his MBA in Finance at La Salle University. While putting himself through school and working full-time, he also served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 12 years, a testament to his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication.
Gary built a successful 20-year career at Shell, where he was known by colleagues for his work ethic, passion, thoughtful advice, and his remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued.
But his greatest joy and lasting legacy was his family.
Gary was the loving and supportive husband of Esanet Benedict, and the deeply devoted father of Noah Alan Benedict and Evangeline Anne Benedict.
He lived with purpose and unconditional love, guiding his children by example and surrounding them with encouragement and protection. He was the foundation of their home. Every action he took was rooted in caring for his family and ensuring they felt secure and cherished.
Gary also had a playful and joyful spirit. He loved cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams and singing karaoke, fondly referred to by family and friends as "Garyoke." His quick wit and perfect one-liners could light up a room. Conversations with Gary were always meaningful; you often walked away having learned something new or gained a fresh perspective. He found joy in cooking, and his delicious meals made him the family's favorite chef.
Gary lived by the values of perseverance, humility, and integrity. He always chose to do the right thing, even when it was difficult. He will be remembered for his enduring impact on those he touched, his strength, his vibrant and comforting presence, and above all, his unwavering devotion to the people he loved most.
He is survived by his wife, Esanet, and his children, Noah and Evangeline. Gary's father, Edward Benedict, passed away on June 25, 2025. The family finds comfort in knowing that Gary was there to lovingly welcome and guide his father home. He is also survived by his mother, Georgette Benedict, his siblings, Anne Benedict, Edward Benedict, and Andrea Lubrano, his nieces and nephews, and countless friends, colleagues, and loved ones who will forever carry his memory.
