Gary Wilson Burnham

Gary Wilson Burnham passed away on February 28, 2022. He was born September 9, 1948, a son of Ben Franklin and Evelyn Phelps Burnham. He grew up surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Cortez, Colorado, and Farmington, New Mexico. He graduated from Farmington High School in New Mexico and then played football at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah.
He married Coral Lee Chase; they later divorced. In 1988, he married Lana Jensen in the Logan Temple. They enjoyed many happy years together, camping, riding ATV’s, and spending time with their family.
He worked at Thiokol (ATK) for 30 years. The last five years of his career he worked for Metal West in Ogden and enjoyed traveling for them.
Gary was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the North Central States (North Dakota, Manitoba, Canada). He loved reminiscing and telling mission stories. He served in many church positions, but his favorite was as a Gospel Doctrine Teacher. He loved studying the scriptures and sharing his knowledge, insight, and testimony, particularly of the Book of Mormon.
Gary enjoyed many hobbies in his life. He spent a few years on the golf range, building and crashing model airplanes, and was an avid fly fisherman, tying his own flies. He loved classic cars and music.
Surviving is his wife, children, Andrew Short, Jason (Kristen) Burnham, Jared (Jamie) Burnham, Courtney (Kevin) Miller, Rhiannon (Bart) Atkin, Heidi (Lawrence) Flitton, Emily (Trent) Sorensen, Shawnee (Chad) Grant, Tim Billings; 25 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Whitney Burnham Short.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
