Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Marshall Lee Cason and Ethel May Murray Cason.
Gary was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Easley. His strong faith guided him through life, and he found great joy in his church family. He was also an inactive Mason.
An avid sports fan, Gary was a die-hard fan of the Clemson Tigers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also had a love for classic television, especially The Andy Griffith Show, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of crappie fishing, always finding peace in the calm of nature.
Gary had a deep appreciation for antiques, particularly antique cars, and was known for his passion for preserving history. He owned and operated Cason, Inc. for many years before retiring.
Generosity was at the heart of Gary's character. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others, a true testament to his kind and giving nature.
Above all, Gary cherished his family and his beloved dog, Barney. His love for them was evident in all that he did.
Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Linda Roché Cason; son, Emile DeCandt; two sisters, Norma Hall and Gwen Murrell; and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Lollis.
