Gary Lee Enright Obituary
Gary Lee Enright, 85 years of age, of Cheney, WA, passed away May 12, 2025, in Spokane, WA.
He was born in Cresco, Iowa on January 15, 1940, to Peter Emmett and Vera (Wilhelm) Enright. He enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1957 to 1962.
He married Joanna Enright (Dorrel) on January 16, 1960, in Colville, WA. Together they raised three daughter and enjoyed 53 years of marriage, until Joanna's death in 2013, whom he missed every day of the rest of his life.
Gary worked as a machinist/welder in the automotive and maintenance industry until 80 years of age. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Union and Western Metal Industry Union.
He had a talent for fixing EVERYTHING!! A "McGiver' way about him. He was very knowledgeable about automotive issues, a trait he learned from his Uncle Chuck and from his working experience at General Motors plant in Fremont, CA. Often many families and members and friends would call on Gary or "Red,' as some referred to him as, for help. He loved dogs, watching car races, going hunting with his brother Bob, fishing, camping, vacationing and riding motorcycles with his wife and daughters.
Gary will be remembered as being a father figure to many, respected for his wisdom and wit. He wanted to "learn something new every day'.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Hedquist (husband Rick), Christine Enright, Shari Johnson (husband Chris); sister, LaRea Gray; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, parents, siblings Bob and Karen, and aunt and uncle.
