Gary Patrick Gisondi, 70, of Langhorne, PA passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, at his residence. Gary was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 13, 1952, a son of the late Edith (Koehler) and Patrick Gisondi.
Gary is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Nancy; a daughter, Genava Mowbray (husband William IV); a son, Corey Gisondi; and granddaughter Everleigh. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lynn Moore; and 3 Brother-in-laws, Chris Willey (Jeannine), Craig and Glenn Moore.
Gary was raised in the Nottingham area of Bensalem and graduated from the Bensalem Township school district, class of 1970. He attended college at Kutztown University; where he was accomplished in soccer, football, and track. He graduated with a degree in elementary education and went on to become a beloved teacher at several different schools in the Bensalem Area School District for 35 years. He was fondly referred to by fellow faculty members and students as Mr. Giz or just Giz. He was the favorite teacher and/or coach of many, and well known throughout the area for his unique and authentic teaching style.
In both the classroom and all areas of his life, his legacy was spreading joy, silliness, and fun, while still imparting valuable knowledge. He had an uncanny ability to turn even the most mundane and ordinary experiences into a game ("crazy breaks"). He made everyone from students and family, to even the strangers he had brief interactions with, feel seen, heard, valued, and understood. He truly saw the best in everyone he encountered.
Relatives and friends are invited to Gary's visitation on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Hoffmann Meyers Givnish Funeral Home, 1770 Brown Ave., Bensalem, PA from 11am to 1 pm. His Memorial Service will follow beginning at 1 pm.
His family would like everyone to know that there is no pressure to attend, and if it causes any hardship to do so, they would much prefer that they take any time or money they have and spend it making memories with their loved ones, spreading joy, or helping those in need, because it is what Gary would have wanted. They encourage anyone who cannot attend or anyone who would just like to say some final words to Gary to email their thoughts to [email protected].
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you please make a donation to Philabundance or any local food pantry of your choice in his honor.
Services have been entrusted to the Hoffmann Meyers Givnish Funeral Home. Condolences to the family at www.hmghf.com.
