GARY GOODWIN
On Tuesday, September 30, at approximately 12:30 AM, Gary Street Goodwin passed from this life and was promoted into Glory. He is survived by his wife: Kathy Goodwin, his mother: Wilma Goodwin, his sons: Phillip and Daniel Goodwin, his stepson: Benjamin Nelson, his grandchildren, Hattie and Miller Nelson, as well as his brothers Paul and Bently Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his father Odis Goodwin and his sister Marsha Ethridge. Gary was a graduate of Mississippi State University, and Ole Miss Law School. He practiced Law in the Golden Triangle for over 40 years. Public Service was a core part of his beliefs; he always believed in giving back to the community, and served as a Public Defender, Prosecutor, and Judge for over 25 of those years. His courage and service to his clients served a great many people, and he is remembered as a steadfast figure who was always willing to fight for what was right, and never backed down from a challenge. He was deeply intellectual, and loved and believed in the law thoroughly.
He is also remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He was generous, forgiving, and beloved by his family. He will be sorely missed. The world is a darker place without the light of his presence. But his family rests in the hope of the promise of our lord and savior Jesus Christ, that one day we will be made new in his image, and that today Gary rests in the love of the Father. Memorial services will be held Thursday October 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, visitation will be held Thursday from noon until service time.
