Gary Don Hester passed away from this life on August 19, 2024, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Gary was born on July 6, 1948, in Seminole, Texas to his parents, Allen Loyd Hester and Pauline M (Woods).
Gary was a great man; he would lend a helping hand no matter the situation. He was hard-working with a great work ethic. He was proud of his sons, and their choice to follow his footsteps in his lifelong dedication to being a production foreman in the oilfield. His pride in serving his country during the time of Vietnam was admirable. Gary most of all loved his wife of 53 years, Ona Mae.
Gary is preceded in passing by his parents, Allen Loyd and Pauline M. Hester, sister, Marilyn, brothers, Kenneth, Mike, and Dennis.
He is survived by his wife, Ona Mae Hester, sons, Gary Don Hester II and wife, Rachel, Kenneth Lee Hester and wife, Ashley, brother, Darwin Hester, sister, Sherry Smith, grandchildren, Megan, Nichole, Jacob, Joseph, and Haylee, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 23, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home in Dublin, Texas from 6:00-8:00pm.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Old Dublin Memorial Park Cemetery in Dublin, Texas at 12:30pm.

Gary and I served together in 1st Platoon, B Company in RVN. He was the epitome of the guy "I'd want in a foxhole with me when things hit the fan". A little to wet for foxholes where we were, but the sentiment still applies. Could always count on him! And rarely saw him out of the field without a smile on his face (and often in the field too). I am really glad to have known him and proud to have served with him. My condolences for you loss. Ed Melton, RVN 8/69-8/70
