Gary High, a wonderful man whose life was defined by love, laughter, and boundless generosity, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, in
Blackfoot, Idaho. Born on April 8th 1950 in Rigby, Idaho. Gary lived a life brimming with joy, creativity, and an ever-present sense of humor.
Gary devoted 53 years to working at Basic American Foods, where he was not only a dedicated employee but a beloved friend to many. Outside of work, Gary found great joy in his passions. He was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and found comfort in watching The Andy Griffith Show, savoring the simple pleasures of life.
An incredibly talented woodworker, Gary used his skills to create beautiful and personalized gifts for everyone he knew. His workshop was a place where love and craftmanship came together, and his creations were cherished by all who received them. Gary's hobby was not just a past time but a way for him to express his affection and make the lives of others a little brighter.
Family was at the heart of everything Gary did. He communicated with his loved ones daily, always checking in to ensure everyone was doing well. His generous spirit was legendary- Gary was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, though he preferred to go without one. His laughter and quirky sense of humor made him a joy to be around.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Carmen of
Blackfoot, Idaho; his son Jeff (Mindy) High of Gackle, North Dakota; his daughter Sheri (Ryan) Elison of Newcastle, California; and his step children Adriana Torres of Utah; Rogelio (Juliana) Torres of Pocatello, Idaho; Stephanie (Suho)Wolfe of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Kelli (Bryan) Wolfe of
Blackfoot, Idaho; and Neil Wolfe of Pocatello, Idaho. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Connor (Staci) Elison, Taylor High, Olivia High, Tyson Elison, Abrielle High, Makenzie High, Marissa Elison, Peyton Elison, Aiden High, Melissa Sarmiento, Alison Sarmiento, Manny Sarmiento, Payton Feisler, Jack Feisler, Lainey Wolfe, and Lincoln Wolfe, along with three great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister Judy (John) Lucchi, brother Bill (Marla) High, and sister-in-law Sheryl High. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Willis "Bill" High and Darlene High; his first wife, Debra High; his brother Wesley High; and his sister Linda Soderquist.
In accordance with Gary's wishes, there will be no formal service. The family invites friends to honor his memory by sharing stories, enjoying their favorite Braves game, or simply performing a random act of kindness, just as Gary would have done.
Gary High's spirit, warmth, and sense of humor will be deeply missed. He was a truly wonderful man whose legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Private family services will be held at a later date.
