Gary Bruce Honeycutt, son of the late Jack and Jean Honeycutt, was born April 3, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life peacefully on May 30, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, one month and twenty-seven days.

Bruce grew up in Mansfield, Missouri, and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1966. After graduation, he stayed in the area working as a mechanic at his grandad, S.A. Honeycutt’s Chevrolet Dealership. Bruce served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972 and was stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy. After his service he returned back to his hometown to work at his dad’s service station.

On April 2, 1977, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Faye (Olive) Honeycutt. Bruce raised his son and two daughters in Mansfield while working in the maintenance department at Hutchens Industries. He chose to retire after twenty-three years so he could spend more time with his children and grandchildren. Bruce was the type of man who loved to get his hands dirty. Growing up, he would tear apart just about anything you can think of and he would always put it back together. This is something that he has handed down, to not only his children and grandchildren, but to anyone that knew him. To many he was the smartest man they had ever met and he loved sharing the wealth of knowledge he possessed. In his spare time he loved bowling, playing softball, hunting, and fishing. The greatest joy in his life was watching his kids and grandkids play sports and taking them hunting and fishing. He was a very proud Dad and Papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Doyle and Bonnie Olive, brother-in-law, Marvin Olive, sister-in-law, Deann Cornelius, nephew, Brandon Olive and two grandsons.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Becky Honeycutt, son, Eric Honeycutt (Tonia), daughters, Missy Wallace (Bub), Jackie Kelley (Matt), brother, Allen Honeycutt (Dixie), sister, Linda Honeycutt, sister-in-law, Karen Olive, brother-in-law, Steven Olive (Patty), sister-in-law, Rhonda Dixon (Earl), grandchildren, Breanna Perrin (Kole), Kyle Schreffler (Lanie), Megan Peak (Jake), Trenton Honeycutt, Caleb Schreffler (Hannah), Nathan Wallace (Charity), Natalie Sturdefant (Chad), great-grandchildren, Isam Schreffler, Ila Peak, Elianna, Colt, Hesston, and Case Wallace, Jackson Barlow, Lyla, Hallie, and Maximus Sturdefant and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. Bruce’s family and friends will forever cherish the time they spent with him, remembering him as a beacon of love and a testament to living life to the fullest.
