Gary was born on January 23, 1956 in Macon, MO, the son of Bobby "Bob" Gene and Bernice "Nadine" (Joiner) Leathers. Gary owned and operated his own tire shop, Gary's Tire for several years. He was a Union Chief Steward at ConAgra Brands for many years, a member of the Local 688 Teamsters, he was a huge Arizona Cardinals and Boston Celtics sports fan, and he loved tending to his large beautiful garden.
Gary is survived by his two daughters, Jessica Renee McKim of Macon and Jena Rose Leathers and her partner Kristin of Macon; his two brothers, Danny Leathers and his wife Rosina of Macon, and Larry Leathers of Excello; three grandchildren, Keegan Ray Compton (Sprite'), Christian Cameron Compton, and Fallan James Compton; one great granddaughter, KeeLayna Rose Compton; one nephew, Chris Leathers; and one niece, Lisa Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Nadine, and one brother, Jerry Leathers.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Roundhouse south of Macon, MO. The family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund or the Hebron Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO.
