Gary E. Niemeyer passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home in Harrison, Ohio, he was 94. He was born Feb. 14, 1931, at Booth Memorial Hospital in Covington, KY to Louise (Guy) and Earl Niemeyer of Bromley, KY.
Gary is a 1950 graduate of Dixie Heights High School and was employed by the Cincinnati Times-Star in the printing and mailing operation before purchasing the A. L. Donawerth Insurance Agency in Harrison in 1964. Gary operated the independent agency through 1987, in addition to becoming a licensed real estate agent.
Gary supported the community through membership in civic organizations and partnerships with youth and high school sports and was proud to be a longtime advisor and provider of insurance coverage for many residents and businesses of the greater Harrison community, and the City of Harrison and Southwest Local School District. He spoke highly of his relationships with the elected officials and administrative leaders of both entities.
Gary played baseball at Dixie Heights High School and was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and the athletic programs at Dixie and Harrison High Schools.
He is survived by daughter Kimberly Bush (Tom), son Barry Niemeyer, granddaughter Abby (Bush) Barnes (Brandon), grandsons Johan and Liam Niemeyer, and his friend and partner Mary Stepp. He is also survived by many cousins throughout the tri-state. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Louise and Earl, and grandson Andrew Bush.
Gary will have a private burial at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Ky with family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary's memory to the Harrison Fire Department, 200 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, OH 45030.
